Entourage won't quit

I am having trouble with Entourage (Office 2004) on my new MacBook.
Each time I go to quit the program I have to end up doing a force quit.
Another issue is that when this application is open the fan runs at
high speed all the time. I have updated everything there is to update.
Is anyone else having the same problem? Is because this version of
office isn't optimized for the Intel chips?

Thanks

There are no big files and I am not sure I know what you meand by big
exchange account. I have entourage on my 12 inch PowerBook as well and
never had this problem. It's just with the new MacBook

Check your schedules for "on quit".

I'm not concerned so much about how big the files are, but how numerous.
I've seen what you describe both with projects that had a lot of e-mail
tied to it and with Exchange accounts with a huge number of e-mails.

If you don't know what an exchange account is, you probably don;t have
one :) That leaves us with projects..... So do you have projects that
would have a lot of e-mails tied to it for instance??

Thanks to all for the comments and tips. As I write this I have
Entourage open and synching with our Exchange server and the problem is
not present. I don't have the computer plugged into power so I don't
know if that's a problem and I am also connecting through my home
internet service (Comcast cable). it also may be that there could have
been a problem with our server. I'll see if the problem persists.

If you're using Tiger (Mac OS X 10.4), make sure that the "Office 2004
Identities" folder is excluded from Spotlight searches. Go to System
Preferences, and then open Spotlight Preferences. Click the "Privacy" tab,
and drag the "Office 2004 Identities" folder (located in
~/Documents/Microsoft User Data/) into the list.

Since I did this on my new Intel-based machine, Entourage seems to have been
performing more responsively. I still do see occasional delays though,
possibly because Entourage is running through Rosetta.
