Entourage won't send emails when using AOL dial-up when wireless is down

When I use AOL dial-up---either when out of town w/o wireless access,
or my wireless at home goes down--Entourage will not send my emails,
but it can receive them. Can't seem to figure out a solution. Please
help! If you respond, please note I am not savvy w/ technical jargon
or set-up AT ALL (I had someone else set up my Entourage accounts), so
please give instructions with very easy-to-follow language and steps.

Thank-you!

Send & Receive problems can be complex to solve, but generally these
solutions apply:

If you can receive but not send then you have a bad SMTP configuration.

If you can send but not receive you have a bad POP or IMAP configuration.

You can try re-entering info.
You can delete account and create a new one.
Using copy/paste can result in an extra space being added. Type carefully.
Check your Keychain for corruption.

In your case, you need to check your SMTP information on your Account. See
the AOL account setup complete with screen shots here:

Post back if you continue to have problems.

Diane and Adam:

Thank-you BOTH for your responses! I love this! Unfortunately, Diane,
it is not AOL email I was trying to send--I was simply using AOL
dial-up to get online (in a place without any DSL or wireless access
whatsoever), and then send work emails, from my work email accounts on
my Entourage. I believe your suggestions are for sending/receiving AOL
email on Entourage--that, I do not do at all. So, I don't think your
suggestions apply. As for Adam's suggested reading, I believe that
pretty much tells me I am SOL with this method--that AOL's set up just
isn't capable of doing what I want it to do. I am going to contact AOL
directly to see if that is indeed correct.

If you guys have any other thoughts/ideas on how I can avoid this
problem in the future, I'm all ears, but if not, I really appreciate
you having taken the time to help!!

Actually that's not what my site says. Your best bet is to use an outgoing
SMTP server on a port other than 25. Your email provider may already have
this. Check with them. Many now offer authenticated SMTP on port 587.
I am going to contact AOL directly to see if that is indeed correct.

The reason my site exists is AOL is largely incapable of providing support
on such a topic. You won't get a straight answer from them.
