Entourage X and Exchange 5.5 IMAP problem, please help!

I'm trying to set up Entourage just for sending and receiving mail. I
am told by my Sys Admin that the server here is running Exchange 5.5.

The problem I'm having is that it seems to connect okay but I get the
following error message:

Error
An Error occurred on the IMAP server.

Explanation
Invalid account ID or password. Check your account settings.

Error: 11003

I know my username and password is correct, and the admin even reset
my password to make sure. Am I missing something?

Also, the server definitely has IMAP because someone else here is on
Linux and that's how they get their mail.

Don't set it up as an Exchange account in Tools -> Accounts, but instead as
a regular mail account. If you already created an Exchange account, delete
it.

If you still have problems, remember that your Account ID needs to be in the
format "domain\username" (without the quotes).
