Hi --

I posted this a couple days ago but it didn't show up on the board so
am trying again.

Does anyone know the max size for a group? I tried to send to an
email to a group that included 500+ addressees and got a message from
Entourage say the group was too large.

I did reply, and I'll reply again. This question has also been asked about
15,000 times before so you'd find several answers if you downloaded more
news headers and searched the subjects or message bodies for "maximum" or
"maximum recipients". It is also answered at the Entourage FAQ page whose
link is in my signature and that of all the other MVPs on this newsgroup.

Here's how it is:

There is NO maximum size for a group in Entourage. I have a group with over
1000 members myself. People have been known to have 5000.

However, your ISP has a maximum for how many messages it will send out at
once - whether you've entered those recipients as a group or one by one
makes no difference at all. They do that to prevent spammers from using
their server as a relay. Sometimes they also do it to prevent people from
using the inexpensive monthly residential service they for as a commercial
email service which hogs the server making other people's service poorer.

The only way to find out what your particular ISP's maximum is to ask them.
Phone them up and ask them - they'll tell you.

Once you know the maximum, you can still continue to use one group if it's
more convenient to you than splitting it up (which also works), if you get
my free script

Split Recipients X

at

MacScripter.net <http://macscripter.net/scriptbuilders/>

It will split the recipients into as many subsets as necessary to keep under
you ISP's maximum. If your group "does not show addresses", the script
honors that as well.
