Entourage X User Data Won't Come up After Tiger Install

In prep for Tiger upgrade (from Panther) I backed up my home folder to
my Maxtor external hard drive w/of course the Microsoft User Data
folder w/all Entourage contacts, emails, etc. I had problems w/the
upgrade install so went back and did an "archive & install". After
starting up 10.4, I replaced the M/S User data folder w/the one from
back-up, restarted, opened Entourage and--nothing! I opened the
Database file in Office X Identies in the Maxtor back-up and got the
same result. Surely there's no way I could've lost all the data in the
back-up, is there!? Am desparate for some guidance.

Put the microsoft user data folder back in your Documents folder (the one in
your 'Home' folder), then start Entourage. If your data doesn't show up,
choose 'switch identity' from the Entourage menu, and see if another idetity
shows up in the list - after a full reinstall Entourage can loose track of
which identity was in use.
