Entourage X will not quit and then hangs

Entourage X will not quit. Does anyone have experience with this?
The window disappears but it remains in the dock, either without
quitting or outright hung. I have to force quit it. This problem
started quite suddenly after years of use.

I have an always-on internet connection. I have rebuilt my database,
normal and "advanced." I do not have norton installed. I have the
osx firewall, that is it. Basically it happens regardless of the
network I am connected to.

Have you updated to 10.1.5?

Free updates are available at <http://www.microsoft.com/mac/>

Yes. running OS 10.3.4 , btw. Any thoughts?
And to think my cousin who is a programmer at M$ made 11,000,000 in 6
years there. Code doesn't even work. Blech.

Barry wasn't referring to the OS version. He was asking about your version
of OFFICE Mac.

Go to the MacTopia website and download and apply the Office 10.1.2, 10.1.4
and 10.1.5 updaters in that order, if your version of Entourage is not
already 10.1.4.

Ten percent of the people seem to fail to get the word and I may be in
that group. I use Entourage X version 10.1.4 with Service Release 1.

Is this the most current ore is there really a 10.1.5?

THe most current update for Office is 10.1.5 even though Entourage itself
sstill displays version number 10.1.4. Check in the Office fodler within
Microsoft Office X and check the version of the Microsoft Component Plugin,
only this file will reveal the actual version number for Office reliably,

I have no file or folder called "Microsoft Component Plugin"; however,
Excel and PowerPoint are at 10.1.5 where Word and Entourage are still
at 10.1.4.

We sure could use a patch to Entourage to add the FIX that causes it to
crash on a bad email.

I can only assume version 10.1.4 is the most current Ent-X

I know. that's why I put a period after "yes." I was adding after I
wrote "yes" that I am up to date with everything, OS, Office, all of
it. In other words, I am running office 10.1.5.

That's the way it should be. I believe you have 10.1.5 then,
It still puzzles me, you don;t have this file???

I'd guess that aRKay did not notice the "Office" subfolder in that path and
was looking in its container folder "Microsoft Office 2004". Have to look in
the Office subfolder there.

TNX Paul: I am a little red-faced for looking in the wrong folder. I use
Entourage-X and the Get Info for the Microsoft Component Plugin says it
is version 10.1. 5 so I must be up to date.

Hopefully, a patch will be released soon to fix the bug associated with
the Junk Mail Filter that causes the nasty crash.
