Entourage2004/Exchange: how to stop it from moving mgs off of server...

I really want all my exchange stuff left on the server and suddenly
after a couple of weeks, Entourage 2004 is moving stuff into the local
inbox? It also appears to only be this one iMac doing it, the other Mac
at home does not have this problem. I thought that Entourage was
supposed to leave messages on the Exchange server?
Thanks!

All I can tell you is that I sure don;t have the same problems. The only
way I could see ENtourage do that would be if you connected through POP
from one location (leaving messages on server for x days) and Exchange
from the other location.

Hi Rob,

Are the messages that get copied locally, getting deleted from the server?

I rebuilt my iBook last week and when I reinstalled Entourage 2004 and
set it up to connect to my Exchange server, it started doing the same
thing! What is going on here? And, why is there no setting to change
or override this?

The weird thing is that it isn't taking all messages off the server!
What is most aggravating is that it has stripped messages out of their
sorting folders on the server and dumped them ALL into my local Inbox!
That just ain't right!

Cheers,
Anthony

I have a G4 with OSX 10.2.8 and Office 04. My Entourage started doing the
same thing late last week.

I deleted my preference files and it's still doing it.

The messages that get saved locally are deleted off the server. I have to
move them back on. When I delete a message off the local, or mark it junk,
it gets managed locally instead of on the server.

It's only some messages and I don't see any real rhyme or reason.

What changed on Friday to cause this?

I've been having that problem, too. It seems intermittent. No rules or
other wonky settings. I've been asking for a reply in another thread
(.Mac messages moved...) - here is a reply that finally appeared in
that thread:

- deleting the .mac account within Entourage (in our case: the exchange
account)
- deleting the file com.microsoft.Entourage.plist
- deleting the file com.microsoft.Entourage.prefs.plist
- setting up the .mac account again (exchange account)

I am about to try this. It may be a few days before I can report if
this fixes the problem or not.

Kind regards

It sounds like you setup a POP account, which automatically downloads all of
your from the server. Your create an IMAP account. Remove the incoming
server name on your pop account so that no new mail arrives while you are
setting up your IMAP account. Once your IMAP account is set up, move your
mail back to the server(IMAP account).

Not!

I've got my exchange account set up as an exchange account, not a POP
account.

Not all of my messages are moving, just some of them. It started with a few
of them, now it's a majority of my messages are being dumped into the local
inbox.

My exchange server doesn't even have IMAP turned on, I'm using the exchange
option in my account setup.
