Is there any way to save my old emails to a different location?
Many of my emails have attachements and my "Microsoft User data"
file is getting huge.

I heard that you can save email to other specified locations
automatically on Windows version. Is this true?
Please help!!!!

Yes. One way is to create a Custom View for mail over xxxxdays. Then drag
the icon for the view to the desktop. This creates an MBOX file. Now create
a new Identity in Entourage. Drag the MBOX file to the folder window and
your old mail will be available by switching Identities for easy searching.
You can also just save the MBOX file for reference.

Ways to reduce your database:

€ clear newsgroups cache
€ remove attachments from sent mail
€ remove attachments from incoming mail

Forgot to add...

After creating the MBOX file you can now delete the messages in your
identity.

Will this preserve the file structure too, or just put all the emails in the
date range from different files together?

The custon view will have all emails within that date, but you can then sort
in the window by category, date, sender etc. Just select from the menu bar
View->Columns and select the views you want.

I have two more uestions;

1. By creating a Mbox in anew identity, the database file is not going
to be a huge file, correct? I would like to keep/save all the
attachments if I can.

2. Does custom view saves emails over xxxdays automatically if I set
it up that way?

It just spreads out the messages over two identities. Your main objective is
to keep your main identity small. The total size will be the same.

You could use a script to remove attachments. The script will put a link in
the message for the attachment.

Friendlier Claris It! for Entourage X 1.5.5  can found on macscripter.net.
In addition to removing attachments it also will file incoming messages in
various preassigned folders (or create them on the fly).

No. Selecting the view will sort any new mail for you to create the mbox
files.
