Entrourage installation

I am new Mac user, installing the Office test drive. I have two users
setup on my iMac, one of which is an administrator. After installation
of Entourage (using the Administrator account), I am unable to start
the application as the other user. There is a message displayed that
the application cannot be installed on a read-only volume.
From what I can tell - the user account has read/write permissions, but
apparantly, I still have not defined the required privs.

Any advice or assistance is appreciated.

Thanks - David

First, welcome to the Mac community!

It's possible that the test drive only works on one user. If Office 2004 is
installed in the root Applications folder, all the applications are
available for all users. If however, you installed Office 2004 in your
User's folder, then it is available only for your use. Entourage creates a
folder in Documents called the Microsoft User Data folder. All your data is
stored there.

Just to be clear.....The terms "User" and " Identity" are often confused . A
User is a term used by the Mac OS. Entourage stores your data in an
Identity.

Compare the permissions of "your" Documents folder to the "other" user using
Get Info (command-I). Toggle "Details" to see all permissions. This should
let you know if permissions are set correctly.

I also suggest subscribing to a general Mac talk list for help learning
about the Mac. I highly recommend these two lists.

Mac-L.. moderated list....includes both OS 9 and X.

OSX.. moderated list. just for OS X. <http://osxlist.com/>

Another great resource to get you started is the OSX Guide.
