Entry conversion

Hello,
I have a web page that I want to convert to an Excel spread sheet. In it
there is a table that contains ID#s. An example of one of the ID#s is
03-2254, which Excel converts to "Mar-54". Is there a way for me to keep the
ID#s as is and not have them converted into some sort of a date?

(All ID#s start with 03 or 04, followed by a hyphen, then two to five
numbers.)

Thank you in advance,
Ellen

Hi BenjieLop,
I've tried that. Excel still messes it up. It looks like even though I've
formatted the cells as text, when my entry gets copied over the formatting
gets overwritten.

I do not know what else to suggest ... perhaps the real Excel gurus can
take it from here.

Format your cell as Text and your entry will remain as is.

Any chance you can paste into NotePad, then use File|open to open that text
file.

Then you can specify text for that field.

(if you're doing one cell at a time, you can format the cell as text first, but
paste diretly into the formula bar (not the cell itself.)

Thanks, BenjieLop. Have a good day!!
