E'rage 2004: Email notifications only work for one account?

Love the feature where I get that fading popup box for new messages. But it
only appears to work for one account, the first one -- regardless of whether
it's the default account or not.

Here's what I *want*, tell me if I need to modify my setup:

1) I'm not using Entourage as my primary email app; emails here are mainly
emails that I'm bouncing from Mail.app for further management. So these
messages don't need announcements, they're all from me.

2) But because I don't have a mail anouncement that's as nice as this one,
I'd like to have my primary account here as well, with rules settings: leave
on server, mark as read, file directly to deleted mail folder. So the sole
purpose of this account is to roll them through that announcement filter.

At first I thought that my rule was circumventing the the announcement, but
no -- with the rule deactivated, I still only get announcements for the
first account I entered (the catch account for my manual redirects).

Help?

Following up on my own post -- I've got the behavior I want by manually
calling the notification routine in my rule, but advice on why the default
did work the way I expected is appreciated.
