Erratic Scollbar behaivour in Office 2003

I have a problem on one of our employee's notebook where the scrollbars in
all Office group programs want to go to the top of the page. If you drag the
scrollbar down with your mouse it instantly jumps up to the top of the page.
It seems to be the worst in Outlook, where the screen will actually flicker,
with the scollbar jumping up and down very quickly.
Has anyone else seen this, it's very weird.
OS= WinXPSP1
Office 2003 SP1
Machine IBM R50 notebook.
Any help would be appreciated.
