Erratic Unread Message indicator

Hi Folks -

I use Entourage (11.2.1) as newsreader running on OS X 10.4.2, but yesterday
developed an issue I can't seem to resolve.

The MS ng folders indicate # of unread messages in parens, but when I select
that folder no unread messages appear (they should show up in bolded
groups). It seemed to be only the Mac XL group, but Word & Office are now
behaving the same way.

If the # shows as (4), it may drop to (3) when selected, but none or only
one show up in the message list.

I have tried refreshing the list, using different View>Arrange by settings,
as well as Cmd+Opt+L as suggested in a similar post from some time back, all
with no change. Permissions, etc. are good.

Any ideas?

Hi CYberTaz,

yes, that problem has been mentioned a number of times already, and many
people are experiencing it, including me. You might actually be able to find
similar posts if you google for them, but there's no real solution to it; it
is related to problems with the newsgroup server, if I recall correctly.
Anyway, I always hit Opt-Cmd-T to mark all the messages as read; that way,
the newsgroups' names do not show up bold in the folder list.

Thanx Michel-

I thought that might be the case, but hoped that a fix had been found by
now. It had gone away for a while, but is now back... Sporadically. I guess
this falls into the same category as messages supposedly grouped by Subject
being split as two separate items in the List.
