What version of Outlook are you running? What sort of mail account? What
are you trying to do when you get this message? What is the complete text
of the message?

office 2003, yahoo small business mail, AOL dialup
(becuase my verizon DSL is not working at the moment),
just normal email, it says the server name you entered
can not be found on the network. I have already spoken
with Yahoo and AOL, no luck, and all settings are fine.

thank you so much for your reply...

I assume that "normal email" means a POP3 account? Can you post the exact
text of the message (just cut and paste it from the error report)? It
sounds like AOL's dialup network is not able to convert the name you entered
to an Internet address for the server. This could either be because you
entered the server name improperly or because AOL has a problem on their
network.

sorry, yes, that's what I mean, POP3..I spoke with AOL
but they said they can't help with 3rd party software,
what fools. it's only temp until my dsl is back on. I'll
call them again, thanks so much for your support...

I just spoke with AOL, they say it's an Outlook problem.
do you not know what that error number means? I also have
windows XP Pro. Does that help?

thanks.

I've got no idea what that error is - it doesn't turn up in any of my
searches. Can you give the exact text of the error message (select it using
the mouse, then press Control-C to copy it, and paste into your post)? Is
that error number in the "can't find the server" message, or in a separate
message?

One of the realities of ISP customer service is that they'll always blame
your software and say they don't support it, rather than investigate it
themselves...
