Version: 2004
Operating System: Mac OS X 10.5 (Leopard)
Email Client: pop

Today this error message came up saying Mail Could not be sent and I am unable to send any email.

It is not my ISP because I pulled up my account on another computer and could send messages from that computer.

What do I do. I work from home email is my life line - help.

most likely reason for the problem is database corruption.

start up Entourage with the option key held down until you see the
rebuild screen, then follow the instructions.

I also can no longer send e-mail to anyone. I received the 17099, but it said "relaying mail to [domain] is not allowed. Explanation: Mail could not be sent. Account name:"[]" Error: -17099.

I tried your remedy. It did not work. Any other suggestions?

Rebuilding did not work? Do you understand what relaying is?

Error -17099 is coming from your ISP.

Users have reported this error when sending to large groups. ISPs limit the
number in a group. Usual number is 50 recipients to avoid spammer misuse.
Entourage has no limit. You should contact your mail provider to ascertain
the maximum number of recipients per message and note it. You can use the
free "Split Recipients" script to send a mass e-mail in separate mailings
automatically:

Most ISPs also require you to use their SMTP address when sending.

I'm only sending to a single email (known to be valid - my work email).

I'm using insightbb.com for my Entourage address, my ISP address for both
send and receive.

I've tried using the database verification and correction and no errors were
reported.

Any other ideas?

Thanks.

Are you adding on to this thread? It's always best to start your own thread
rather than try to add on to get the best help.

When asking a question please include which machine you're running and which
version of OS X, as certain answers will vary between different Macs and
Tiger vs. Leopard, etc.

We also need to know what version of Entourage you are using including any
updates.
