Solution: Try using account with secure password selected and not selected.

In the Account window, select "Click here for advanced receiving options
button". Toggle "Always use secure password" Try to receive mail again.

For help with errors, visit the Error Page.

I have the same problem, whether secure password is on or off. Worse, the
message will sometimes disappear, being replaced by a duplicate of another
message. The original message will remain on the server (to be retrieved by
a different client) so long as I don't try to retrieve mail via Entourage in
the meantime and thus "update" the mail on my server (an Exchange server).

I have also tried creating a new user, rebuilding the database, and even
creating a new account. The problem persists. It also occurs on a
different Mac, even with the new account. Other clients, as I say, have no
trouble. This began when I upgraded Entourage 2004 to the 2008 version. I
have run out of variables to experiment with.

I need examples and info. Received this from the developer:

<quote>
Have the users noticed any common pattern across the emails that lead to
this error, such as same sender, or whether it's always with complex HTML
messages...? If they don't mind sharing, it would be helpful to get some
sample emails from them and I'll try to see if I can repro the problem on my
end. If they're ok with providing samples please have them zip up the emails
first before attaching them.</quote>

I can't really supply the e-mail messages because they are the CEO's and private. However I can tell you what I think may be happening...

Entourage is set the leave messages on the server because he travels a lot. He checks messages both on his MacBook Pro and Blackberry, which means that when both devices check for e-mail, the headers are downloaded to both devices.

If he checks, reads and deletes an e-mail on his Blackberry, the header still remains on his laptop. When he goes to view the message on his laptop, it's not opening because it was deleted from the Blackberry.

If you set his account to download the entire message in Entourage that
might help.

There are known problems with the BlackBerry.
