Error -2171

Okay I have searched everywhere for the translation of this error
code, and can't find anything. I am hoping someone has seen this and
knows what it means:

The server returned the following error
Unable to add message to IMAP mailbox. The corresponding local folder
will be used instead. Error -2171

Running Entourage X (with the exchange update) with Exchange Server
2003.
We get this error sporadically. when you hit the send the message goes
into the local outbox, instead of the server outbox. The message is
usually still sent.
I just want to know why it is doing this and how to fix it. If anyone
can help I would appreciate it!

Thanks

I'm getting the same exact thing. My concern is that it's a symptom
of a more serious problem. Is there anything I can do about this?

Thanks,

Ian

It's not all that serious. It's a result of Entourage 10.1.4's having to use
IMAP to get to the Exchange Server and the vagaries of IMAP connections. I
used to get this a fair amount with one of my (non-Exchange) IMAP accounts.
The workaround is to go to your local (On My Computer) Sent Items folder and
drag it (which copies it) to the Sent Items folder on the Exchange server.
That usually works. Occasionally - if it's really still in the Outbox, not
in local Sent Items - you should delete the original after dragging to copy
(which you can do anyway if you wish).

If you still get that error when you drag, it's more serious. Try quitting
and relaunching Entourage , then do it again.

Hopefully in the 2004 release of Office, both IMAP and Exchange code will be
improved and these issues will go away. Don't forget v10.1.4 with limited
Exchange support was rushed out as quickly as possible due to the clamor for
OS X-native Exchange functionality.
