Error -3206

I'm in a work environment where I have to provide my own support for my
Mac.

I'm running 10.4.6 and MS Office for Mac

After a lot of trial and error, I've been using Entourage to talk to
the Exchange server which has worked fine for email. I don't know how
to setup the LDAP or busy/free, but I'm fine without it for now.

After weeks of it working fine, we had to power down the server for
some work we were doing. Since it's been back up, I can no longer
connect to Exchange and receive -3260 (Connection failure has
occured)when I try to receive email.

When I try to send email, I get this error (although somehow the email
actual gets sent):

"Unable to add message to IMAP mailbox. The corresponding local folder
will be used instead."

Any guidance would be appreciated.

Well as it turns out you were entirely right. Once we made sure the
IMAP server was running on the Exchange box, it came right up.

Not satistfied with that victory, I upgraded from Office X to Office
2004. Now I see that it uses DAV rather than IMAP. Now what do I do?
Is there a DAV server that is built into Exchange? Is this a big deal
to make work now?

I don't use exchange, but I can point you to some resources that might help
until someone with exchange experience chimes in.

I can try (I use Exchange).

Two options:
- your Exchange server offers OWA (webmail): in this case, you can use
it instead of IMAP to get your e-mail (and many more things). Just use
the http:// address of your OWA server as the Exchange server.
- set up the account as a simple IMAP... There is no reason why it
shouldn't work as long as IMAP is indeed enabled on the server (not the
case anymore for us).
