Email Client: pop

I have two different POP email accounts set up in my Entourage. One is a gmail account and I can send and receive emails with no problems at all. The second (and my primary email) is through register.com. I can receive emails with no issues. I can't send them though. I have tried and tried and tried to retype the outgoing into to no avail. Register.com was of absolutely no use. This is seriously making me insane. Please help.

error -3259 is listed as an exchange error - are you using register.com
to host an exchange account? If not, we may need to update the
description that goes with that error.

Instead of using the register SMTP, use your ISPs SMTP info.

I'm seeing this error (along with a slew of others) in 2008. I have an
Exchange account, but Entourage is clearly reporting this and all the other
errors for my Gmail account, which is set up as an IMAP account. My wife is
seeing similar errors on her computer, where 2008 is only configured with her
Gmail account (also IMAP).

In the -3259 case, I get this message from Entourage:

Error: An operation on the server timed out. The server may be down,
overloaded, or there may be too much net traffic.
Explanation: Account name: "Gmail"
Error: -3259

Other errors still in my list include -17895 (connection failed or was
dropped) and -2171 (System Error), but I've seen several others.

Incidentally, am I the only one that wishes the errors window in Entourage
included a "Delete All" button? These errors can pile up with some time, and
clicking the Delete button repeatedly is rather annoying.

Bob, I've seen that error text a number of times, e.g, on my MobileMe IMAP
account. I have found that often selecting the inbox of the IMAP account
will make the error go away.

You can make all the error messages in the window go away by quitting and
relaunching Entourage. Entourage does not keep the error list across
sessions. (At least E 2004 doesn't; I assume that hasn't changed in E 2008.)

Send feedback. I've registered I would like to see this fixed too. Right now
my Gmail account is giving me fits. I have to log into my Gmail account with
my browser before it will allow Entourage to download. This just started a
few days ago. I'm guessing it's something to do with security features the
have just added.

How to send feedback to Microsoft.

When working in Office, you can use the ³Send Feedback² option under the
Help menu in all of the Office applications or visit

I've not been having that problem. Lots of gmail mail coming in without
any errors. It's all spam, but it's coming through!
