Error: -47 "file is already in use"

OK, I hope someone can help me with this one.

Every so often I get this message, "Could not retrieve mail from
account [account name here]........The file is already in
use"...........Error: -47

Been searching the boards here, at Microsoft and at apple to no avail.

Here’s the set-up: G5, OS X, Entourage 2001 (under classic). I was
about to upgrade to Entourage X, but can’t at the moment.

I did everything from dumping the pref’s, rebuild the dbase (typical
and advanced), re-installing the suite and creating a new a identity.
HELP!!!
