I have a 70 MB sound file for a one hour long reserntation with 36 slides. I
have the file as wma as well as mp3. I tried pack and go with both types
individually but it always stops with an error compressing sound file. Why is
this error coming and what can I do about this ?

Appreciate any help in this regards!

If you are trying to pack and go to a floppy disk or other removable media,
DON'T. Always tell Pack and Go to put the file on your hard drive. Then when
it is complete you can move the generate files to removable media.

It could be that your system doesn't have the needed resources to complete the
job. Try cleaning out your Temp folder, defragging your hard drive, and closing
other programs that are running and try again to see whether that helps.

Otherwise, please let us know what version of PowerPoint your are using and what
version of Windows. Also include the full and exact text of the message
including what shows up in the title area of the message window.

Sonia,

I was trying to pack and go to my desktop only. I intend to post this
presentation on a intranet website. Once I pack it , I will upload it to my
server.
I tried closing all programs except my outlook , yet this did not work. I am
using Power Point 2000 and Windows 2000. I get the following error message:
" Error Compressing C:\Documen~1\GB79708\LOCALs~1\TEMP\PNGTEMP\CRSNER~1.mp3"

Appreciate your help Sonia!

You know, you really don't need Pack and Go if you have linked your files so
that all links are "relative". Pack and Go creates a compressed file (like
WinZip) and must be uncompressed in order to view. PowerPoint does a good job
of compressing the presentation, so the benefit of Pack and Go is just to
correct the links. I don't use Pack and Go myself, so I'm not sure why there is
a problem with your MP3 file.

What I would do is read through the information below and then, if necessary,
move all files to a common folder and delete and reinsert the links. Then you
can move the files to a folder on your server and it will work fine. You can
use WinZip at this point if you want to present them as a zipped file.

Sounds/Movies don't play, images disappear or links break when I move or email a
presentation

Are users going to access the presentation from PowerPoint, or from their
browser?
