Can anybody please tell me what I do to overcome this error. The error
message appears e.g when I try to send something on the desktop to a mail
recipient. In addition I only have limited access to the address book
(Contacts).I use Windows XPand Office 2000 Pro

Please post the complete error message. ".etc" does not help
troubleshooting. Also, please post your mail transport option (help->About
should tell you.)

Post all replies to the group to keep the discussion intact. Due to
the (insert latest virus name here) virus, all mail sent to my personal
account will be deleted without reading.

After furious head scratching, a.g.forman asked:

The full Error message is "An error occurred while attempting to open the
Windows Address Book .
MAPI 1.0 [00000220]".
I am sorry but I cannot find the mail transport provider in Help/About.
Under Settings/Mail/MS Outlook Properties//internet email-OUTLOOK 050404/Show
profiles/ "The following profiles are set up on this computer: [1]MICROSOFT
OUTLOOK[2] MICROSOFT OUTLOOK INTERNET SETTINGS"
New mail is delivered to PERSONAL FOLDERS
Another error, (possibly connected?) that I get is "Archive store skips due
to error. MAPI unable to load .....dccmsp.dll" at the periodic attempt to
archive.
I hope this helps.
Thanks
