Sorry, but this one is not listed on our error page:

Errors <http://www.entourage.mvps.org/errors.html>

I would restart Entourage and/or your computer. If this does not help, then
try a rebuild of the database.

Rebuild Database:

Locate your database. It should be in your Documents folder.

Find the size of your database, use Get Info (Command + I).

Make sure you have enough hard disk space available for twice that amount.
As part of the rebuilding process, Entourage creates a second database file.

Quit all Office applications (including Entourage and Notifications [very
important] ). Hold down the Option key and re-launch the application. In a
few seconds, you'll be greeted with a dialogue box asking if you want the
"Typical Rebuild" or the "Advanced Rebuild." Choose "Typical."

Caution: Some of your data might be lost if you choose the Advanced Rebuild
option. You should use this option only if you have already performed a
typical rebuild and continue to experience problems starting Entourage or
storing data.

During the rebuild process, the old files are renamed in case for some
reason the rebuild was not successful. After you've rebuilt your database
and checked the application's performance, you can delete the old versions
from your hard drive. Do not throw away these files unless you are satisfied
with the rebuild.

Full details can be found on our Database page:

To be fair - I've had this on my Entourage, but also across my entire Mac -
I can't drag and drop anything to anywhere...

....can anyone suggest anything to get rid of this because (for me) it's not
just about a database in Entourage, the entire kit isn't working correctly.

Cheers

Steve

Have you run Repair permissions?

To use: open Disk Utility in your Applications/Utility folder.

Click on the First Aid tab and select Repair Permissions
Click on the icon for your boot volume.
Click the repair permissions button.

Don't run from CD as updates have a newer version of Repair Permissions.

Run Repair Permissions from the volume being repaired. Disk Utility uses
receipt files from the disk on which it is running (not necessarily the same
as the disk it is "repairing") in order to set the "correct" permissions. If
you run Disk Utility from a CD, it will use the receipt files on the CD (if
any) to determine what the "correct" permissions should be. This could mean
incorrect "repairs."

In short: Disk First Aid should always be run from CD (or by using fsck at
startup in single-user mode), whereas Repair Permissions should always be
run from the volume being repaired. The exception to the latter being if a
permissions problem is preventing startup. In that case, boot off of the CD
and run Repair Permissions, but if doing so, allows you to boot up again,
make sure you re-run Repair Permissions from your OS X volume afterwards.
