error message.. An error occured accessing

T

Tom Gahagan

Hello all......

I've recently started getting the famous An error occurred accessing your
FrontPage web files.... after I go through the user name and password
dialog.

In searching for an answer I've seen where this can happen when the host has
moved your web or you have re-installed FrontPage (an answer by Thomas
Rowe)..... but there was no indication of how to solve the problem.

In my case I think it is the fact that FP was re-installed on my computer...
BUT... some of my clients are also getting the message when they edit their
sites from their compute.

I've contacted my host and they have reinstalled the extensions but the
problem persists.

Any help would be appreciated.......
Thanks
Tom Gahagan

Have you tried the usual repairs in the sequence below:
1) In Windows Explorer Find and delete all FP Temp Files
Usually in C:\WINDOWS\Temp and %USERPROFILE%\Local Settings\Temp
- in FP 2003 you need to look in the super hidden folder
%USERPROFILE%\Local Settings\Temporary Internet Files\FrontPageTempDir
2) In Windows Explorer Find and delete all hidden *.web files
Usually in %USERPROFILE%\Application Data\Microsoft\Web Server Extensions\Cache
3) Run a Repair on IE
(see http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=318378 )
4) Install all Service Packs for your OS, IE, MS Office and your Video card
(Windows Update and Office Update sites, plus your video card supplier site)
5) Open FP and Disable or Uninstall any FP Addins,
6) Open your FP Web/Site and run a Tools Recalculate Hyperlinks
