Outlook Add-In error

I purchased a new Dell computer with Office 03 and it also came with a trial
version of Mcafee. I have not purchased the upgrade Mcafee virus software
and now am getting the above message from outlook everytime I open the
program. It sugests the help menu "detect and repair" option which I have
tried repeatdly but was unsuccessfull. I have also visited Mcafee's website
and re-downloaded the trial version of the orginial software that came on my
PC but the error message keeps occuring. I have also tried to "control
panel; add / remove programs; and repair office instalation" but this has not
worked either. Any suggestions or ideas on how to get rid of the add in at
start-up of outlook or to find the add in ".dll" file I would greatly
appreciate it!

If the trial version has expired, uninstall it. After all it will no longer
provide protection so is just cluttering up yr sys and causing errors.
Once a trial version has expired theres little chance of you reinstalling
it, unless you know what yr doing.
The discriptive err.msg shows that it is a McAfee problem not an OL/Office
problem.
Hopefully you will be installing some other upto date protection, ie
Firewall and AV software on yr sys, otherwise I'm sure you will be a
frequent visitor to the ng's.

1) go to tools, options, other, advanced, addins buttons - make sure mcafee
is disabled.

2) find and delete extend.dat. C:\Documents and
Settings\username\Application Data\Microsoft\Outlook. You can easily access
it by pasting %USERPROFILE%\Application Data\Microsoft\Outlook in the
Address bar of your browser or Windows Explorer.

HELP!! I have the exact same problem. New Dell computer - first thing
I did was uninstall McAfee. Then I installed my own virus protection
and firewall and then installed MS Offfice 2003. Outlook seems to be
functioning fine...but that irritating error message shows up every
time I start. Unfortunately, neither of Diane's solutions worked for
me. (I was SO hopeful..). In trying #1 - there were no listings in
the box. In trying #2, extend.dat was not in the folder. Only 3 files
were present: Outlook Office Data File, Outlook.srs & Outlook (XML
document). I am very frustrated!

VICTORY IS MINE! I kept finding the same solution in other forums, so
out of desperation I tried #1 again...and this time there was a McAfee
entry! (don't know why... I must have not checked the right boxes the
first time???). I unchecked it...and problem solved. Thanks!
