Error message: This form requires Word as your e-mail editor

When I reply to an e-mail the office assistant gives me the above error
message. Word is selected as my e-mail editor originally. But after this
message it can not be selected. I lose Word spell checking and Word full
featured picture insertion. Also when I quit Outlook the assistant icon stays
active in the toolbar tray. The only way to have Outlook reboot into a normal
configuration is to use Task Manager to terminate WINWORD from the process
list. Otherwise WINWORD is stuck active and must be manually terminated even
for system shutdown or restart.

I have followed the instructions from Microsoft knowledge base article
Q319796. It exactly described my issue, but did not solve it. Has anyone
solved this problem?
