Operating System: Mac OS X 10.4 (Tiger)

I'm getting a read/write error -40

Before that error, I tried both a typical & advance rebuild without any success.

Please advise.

Error -40 is a positioning error (tried to position before start of file).
This might indicate file system corruption. Try running Apple's Disk
Utility: First Aid and repairing the disk till it shows clean.

This is a serious error and could indicate drive failure. Be sure you have
backups.
