Error repairing Microsoft Office

On my desktop Outlook, Word, Powerpoint, Excel stopped working. Only Access
2003 works.

I tried to repair three ways. One from the DVD. Two from the iso I
downloaded using virtual cd rom control panel. Third by extracting the iso
and clicking on setup. In all three cases I get the following:

msiexec.exe has encoutnered a problem and needs to close. We are sorry for
the inconvenience.

Can somebody help?

It's office 2003 with all the service packs and updates.

The second article gives a list of products to which it applied. Office
2003 is not included.
