ethernet network / workgroup between two XP PCs

I have been able to establish a connection to share
Internet access (ADSL) between the two PCs but can't get
the two to access each other's other resources
(printers / file folders.

any tips?

Can each machine ping the other? If not, check the firewall built into XP.
Is File and printer sharing enabled? Have you shared the drive on each
machine and set the permissions and security?
