every imported entry has quote marks

I attempted to import into Entourage 2008 from a CSV file that I exported from Entourage 2004. After lining up all the fields, the information in every entry has quote marks. There must be a step I missed or a different way of going about it. Any advice here on how to eliminate the "" ?

Does your original data contain quotes? Use Excel to remove them and
then import again.
