Problem reported by Debbie Smith sounds identical to ours.
In the past few days when opening Excel 2000 on several of
our PC's, the message box "Cannot use object linking and
embedding" appears. Message box will re-appear on
subsequent instance of Excel, but will not reappear after
the PC is rebooted.
When this happens, if Excel is openend by double clicking
on an Excel document Excel will crash and close. This also
can be fixed by re-booting.
This problem did not exist until a few days ago, and how
now occurred on PC's in different functional areas of our
organization. All of the affected PC's have current virus
scans with current virus data files.
