Excel 2000 Not open

When attempting to open an excel file, excel opens with no issue but opens to
nothing but a grey background and not the file. I actually have to open Excel
first, then browse to the file from within Excel. Any ideas why this is would
be greatly appreciated.

Tools, options, general tab, uncheck "Ignore other applications".
