Excel 2000, simple function question (I think)

Hi all.

I have a spreadsheet with 5 pages in it. Some of the
pages have duplicate information. I setup a Data
Validation on one page so the operator can put in a boats
status (B0, B6, B12, C). What I am trying to do is have
that information automatically updated in another sheet
that is in the same workbook. using the =SUM does not
take a LETTER and copy it. How can I do this?

Thanks in advance.

If I understand what you're asking,
Right click in the cell displaying the status, choose "Copy",
Navigate to the sheet and cell where you want this status duplicated,
Right click in this cell and choose "PasteSpecial", then click the
"PasteLink" button.

You now have this cell "linked" to the original, and it will update and
display whatever is in the original cell.

OK, Now I am getting greedy! lol

That works great, however the sheet I am updating is a
daily thing, in other words, there are 31 columns and
every one represents a day of the month. The rows are
what I wanted to update, the boats status for that day.
Only problem with the paste link is that it will change
ALL of the days, not just one.

Any easy solutions for that, if I made sense?

Thanks again,
Scott

Are you saying that each row is a different boat, and each column is a
different day for each boat?
AND ... You only have *one* cell on the operator "input" sheet for each
boat,
AND ... You want this *one* cell to feed the daily status to *31* cells on
this master sheet?
