Excel file size w/row fill

Hi all
Is it reasonable for an excel file with 9400 rows, each highlighted
according to a grouping scheme to be 2.2 meg? Is the highlighting the cause
of this, I turned the conditional formatting off but didn't see a decrease
in size.

Thanks just curious...as it takes a few moments to open.

One thing you can try is to reset the last cell. Let me explain. You know
what the last cell of your data is, row and column. Now do Ctrl - End.
Excel is now showing you what it thinks is the last cell of your data. What
Excel thinks is the last cell drives the size of the file. Is Excel's last
cell close to your last cell?
If it isn't, then select the row below the last row of your data. The
row itself. Do Ctrl - Shift - down arrow. Do Edit - Delete.
Now select the column to the right of the last column of your data. Do
Ctrl - Shift - Right arrow. Do Edit - Delete.
Save the file.
Close the file.
Check the size of the file. HTH Otto

Thanks Otto..
Yes I had tried that as well as "save as"... and a few other solutions I had
found on the internet however none of them reduced the file size. Thus my
question, if highlighting in every row has a lot of overhead associated with
it.

Make a copy of your file, then play with the copy. Remove all the
highlighting.
Save it and see what the file size is.
Remove all the formatting and save it and see what the file size is.
Etc. HTH Otto
