excel files turned to word file

I was surprised to see all my excel files turned to word
files. I dont know what's wrong please help because it's
is my office pc

How does this show exactly?
Can you still open the files in Excel using File, open?

If so, close Excel and do:

Start, Run,
"c:\program files\microsoft office\office\excel.exe" /regserver
(Including the quotes, maybe you have to change the path)

That will fix the file associations to Excel.
