Formula for VAT. Was cell number*0.175 Now this will not
work in 2003. It worked in Excel 2000, why not now? I need
to know VAT total on purchases and I cannot work it
out,please help, thank you

I don't have 2003 but see no reason why
=a1*.0175 will not work.
Perhaps "Will not work" needs more explanation.

"will not work" means what?

Does not update? Will results update if you hit F9 key?

Go to Tools>Options>Calculation and make sure you are in Automatic mode.

You see the formula but not a result?

Perhaps the cell is formatted as Text?

Change to General then hit F2 + ENTER

Might be you are in "View Formula" mode. Hit CRTL + ` key to toggle on/off.
