Looking for a solution using excel-
Example: Imagine that you have a reconciliation with 100s or 1000s of debits
or credits. You also have the offsetting debit or credit, which is one item.
You know that the one debit or credit equals some offsetting combination of
debits or credits.
Instead of going up and down one column (in a trial and error fashion that can
take a long time) to find that combination of debits or credits that equals
your single item offset, is there an excel function that can be used to hi-lite
one column and have it search/find various combinations that equal the offset?
I have tried the goal seek, scenario and solvers without luck. I have also
tried some of the solv/solver functions (solvget, solvok) without luck. The
ms-excel help is terrible for the solv functions. Have tried other groups too
with no success.
Any help or guidance would be greatly appreciated!
