Excel generated report via Access

I am exporting reports from MS Access to MS Excel, and I would like to
have the default cell width increased. I did create a workbook
template and save it to the XLSTART folder. This works for new
workbooks created via Excel, however, for the exported reports via
Access, the new cell width is not being carried through.

Any suggestions?
