Exchange 2003 Calendar No Sync...

J

John Mabee

We just upgraded to Exchange Server 2003 and now I can eliminate VPC w/
Outlook... Almost.

I can connect to exchange with no problem, get all email etc. However, I
have had no success getting my calendar or contacts to sync. Any ideas?

See Œya,

Are you using Entourage X or 2004 ??? If it's X, you probably haven't
setup the free/busy server address properly.
Let em know what version it is and I'll do my best to try and help you,

Oh gee... The first rule... I am using Entourage 2004.
Thanks!

Ok, Corentin, I have more information. It appears that my entourage
calendar overwrote all the calendar events on the exchange calendar rather
than synchronize them. This is a big problem if that happens... :) We
just re-loaded the calendar from a handy backup so the data is not lost, but
it IS lost from me being able to look at it... Any ideas?

Thanks,
John

I see. Entourage 2004 uses the same parameters for e-mail tand
address-book/calendar so if you get e-mails, you should be able to get
the rest along.
As far as overwriting is concerned, I've never seen that. Could there be
a problem with the time setting on either the Mac or the server ?? (I
guess the way sync works is by comparing the modification time for the
different items it attemps to sync)

Now that you restored the data, did you look whether it made it back to
the Mac ??

I wonder what's wrong... You might end-up having to do some port
sniffing to find out what goes on between the server and Entourage :-(

Hmmm... Up until today, I have been using Entourage for pop email, and
personal calendaring (not many entries). I was using VPC w/ Outlook to
access the exchange email and calendar. The servers were upgraded over the
weekend, and I loaded the pst from outlook onto new exchange servers. When
I added my exchange account is when the calendar was overwritten. All my
emails went into a new exchange inbox. Another change that happened is that
we are now hosting our own email on the server.

I am no IT guy by any means, but do you think I should create another
identity for Exchange to see if it is a timing issue? One that is totally
blank from the get-go?

I haven't had the guts yet... :) I may try it with brand new identity if
you think it is worth a try...

Did you then check through webmail that everything was actually on the
server??

I would first make sure everything is indeed on the server, then create
a new identity to resync it all to Entourage.

I checked through a windows workstation, and it was all there!
I would first make sure everything is indeed on the server, then create
a new identity to resync it all to Entourage.
It did the trick!
