Exchange account acting like POP account

I have a newly-created Exchange account (our company just moved to an
Exchange system) that seems to be acting like a POP account in that new
messages are being copied to the Inbox on the computer, and then
automatically moved to the Deleted Items folder on the server.

What's bizarre is that there are no rules in place to create that
behavior. The account is correctly set up as an Exchange account, not
a POP account, so in the account setup area there is not even an option
to delete messages from the server after they are read on this computer
as there is in the POP account setup menu.

Anyone know why Entourage would be performing this action? It's very
annoying since it means that only one computer has messages in the
right place, and important messages are ending up as deleted on the
server.

Thanks for any suggestions!

I had a very similar problem, except that only messages sent from certain
domains were being moved. In my case, the problem began when I moved from
Entourage X to Entourage 2004.

I first tried quitting Entourage; then deleting some old prefs related to
Outlook Express, and deleting the entire Main Identity folder.

This worked for a while, but then the problem came back. Prior to the
reappearance of the problem, I was seeing some odd behavior from the junk
mail filter. This suggested to me that the junk e-mail protection might be
at fault, so I turned it off. I then deleted only the Database inside the
Main Identity folder and relaunched Entourage.

Since that time, I've not had the problem reappear. In the interim, I did
also update Entourage to v11.2.1.

I can't say which of the above actions were required for the fix, or,
indeed, whether I've just been lucky over the past month and the problem may
eventually recur.
