Exchange and Entourage - losing my mind! MVP's please help!

This update is killing me! It has all worked, but then it stops
working! Email is fine - both receiving and sending. However my
calendar and contacts (which synched once) now resolutely refuse to
synch. There seems to be no error messages or ways to tell what is
wrong - it just passively fails. I can get email addresses/directory
services - but no free/busy info for calendaring. I have the free/busy
server set to "myservername/public" - again it worked briefly and then
stopped. I have turned off all ssl (and had it on) and read these
boards end to end - can anyone help me get this working?

A couple of other questions - I have tried setting up my account again
several times - and now all the calendar and contact stuff comes in as
email messages and not into the upper pane of main folders. As soon as
entourage sets up the folder structure it has contact and calendar
folders down below - this seems wrong - is this a clue as to my
problem?

Also, I do no have anything set up in the search base field - I assume
that is optional and not needed as my directory services are working -
correct?

You may have already tried this, but did you empty the cache before
rebuilding your account? I've been experiencing similar "unusual" sync
behavior since I upgraded a couple of days ago, and now it seemingly
is working fine (knock on wood). However, I had to do the following:

1. Turn off synchronization
2. Delete all of the items in my work category (which is the only
category I sync'd)
3. Delete the items that mistakenly sync'd to the exhange server in
Windows
4. Empty Cache (control-click on the Exchange account)
5. Click "Reset Synchronization" on the "Advanced" tab
6. Turn synchronization back on (this time I created a new category to
sync to since I had other things in the "work" category I didn't want
sync'd)
