Exchange Calendar problems

I installed Office 2004 test drive a week or so and I must say I¹m really
impressed by the feel of it and most importantly in now allows me to send
mail via our Exchange server no problem. The previous version, Entourage X,
just kept throwing up Œrelaying denied¹ errors, this doesn¹t happen anymore.
Great!

What I can¹t understand is why it doesn¹t pick up our global calendar and
synchronize the info. In the documentation it says:-

³Outlook Calendar items stored in subfolders or public folders Only
Calendar items stored in the top level of your Outlook Calendar folder are
synchronized. Calendar items stored in subfolders or anywhere else are not
synchronized. To synchronize all your Calendar items, make sure your Outlook
Calendar items appear in the top level of your Outlook Calendar folder.¹

OK, armed with this info I went and told our IT administrator, he moved the
calendar to the top of the public folders that we have to store company
info. Still nothing. He¹s literally moved it to the very top of the list out
of any subfolders, it can¹t unsubfolder (if that¹s a word) any further.

What I really wanted to happen is that in the calendar mode for it to appear
as a separate company calendar you can click on in the left pane instead of
importing into your personal calendar. Is this possible?

Even though we¹ve moved it to the top level it seems a shame that I can¹t
specify a path to a sub-folder for a calendar that the company uses. It
worked in Exchange under OS 9, you could see the sub folder inside which the
calendar was in and you just clicked on it to view. Entourage must somehow
still think the works calendar is sub foldered.

Has anyone any more info on this?

I think you're confused. The help file is referring to your personal
calendar folder in your account. If you have subfolders that contain
calendar events, those won't be synchronized. Only your top level calendar
folder for you account will sync.

For public folders, only mail will sync. No other item type will. Read the
help on public folders:
"€ Only e-mail messages will appear. Other item types that might be in the
public folder, such as Calendar events or tasks, will not appear in
Entourage."
