see details below on strange behaviours--in summary, all new incoming
to Exchange server is being deleted from inbox (though a copy remains
in deleted msgs folder, also all future calendar appts and contacts
were deleted, and ocasionally, new entries were being added to
contacts DB.
I have since updated office to most recent version (no effect), run a
virus scan (nothing found). Most notably I stopped using the entourage
client and instead used a web access client and the behaviours
persisted. Finally I reset the password and so far the behaviour has
stopped. this suggests that my access had become compromised--I am
pretty good at not opening strange emails, but something may have
slipped by. I plan on deleting and reinstalling the entourage client,
but it would still be good to know what to look for, to make sure I
don't also reinstall whatever caused the problem in the first place.
thanks

You must have a rule that is moving the message. The most likely
culprit is
the Mailing List Manager (MLM). It's very easy to set up a MLM rule by
accident, when you are marking a message as 'not junk'. The wording of
that
dialog is ambiguous to say the least. Check if there is an MLM entry
(look
for MLM entries under the tools menu) with the incorrect destination
folder
as the target folder. Mailing List Manager rules run before your other
rules.
However, your description of contacts and calendar appointments moving
is
not related to this "accidental" Mailing List Manager rule. If you
ask
again with exchange in the subject, it will get the attention of the
exchange experts that might be able to help with that part of your
problem.

Symptoms: all incoming mail is moved over to the deleted items folder
as far back as 9/17 (though this behaviour started Oct 1); all
calendar appointments have been removed (and placed in deleted items
folder)
all contacts removed to deleted items and replaced with 10 addresses.
