Exchange OWA on nonstandard port

L

Lynn Deman

Hello

My exchange/2000 server's owa is being served on a non-standard port(80)...
Which is port 8001.

My owa works very well.

Would this cause a problem trying to connect entourage to it?

TIA

ms,

thanks for responding......to most your response probably is clear
enough...but I'm just a newbie to most of the technology being used
here...so please do not let my next few questions put you off....tia...:)

where exactly are suggesting that I change the WebDAV port to 8001...??

On the exchange/2000 server...??

or on the entourage client...???

currently the exchange/2000 owa client is being served up on port
8001...does this mean that WebDAV is also currently running on port
8001...???

TIA...:)

In Entourage, set the Exchange account's port to 8001.

It's at the bottom of the Account Settings tab of the account dialog. If
you use public folders, you might need to set it there as well on the
Advanced tab.

Andy,

Thanks for your response...

The version of entourage that I WAS running (office 2004 11.0.0 - testdrive)
does not provide any dialog in the exchange account configuration
window....:(

And the service pack patches available for manual download will NOT apply to
the test drive versions of the office 2004 software at all....:(

So...I gambled...I purchased the office 2004 software...uninstalled
testdrive...installed my purchased office 2004...which turns out to be
version 11.0.0....but....this version was able to detect an available update
on its own...service pack 2...which it downloaded and installed raising my
version to 11.2.0...which is way different from 11.0.0.....because it
WORKS....:)

Now I do have the web-dav dialog option in the exchange account setup
window....very nice....all works like a charm now...:)

I can't believe that Microsoft is providing a trial version of this software
that has already required TWO service packs....and they did not roll the
fixes into the trial version......they have people out there evaluating this
software as current...when it is most definitely NOT current...and giving up
on it.....NOT smart....

.....Microsoft needs to update their testdrive product.....ONE...so that it
reflects the most current release...and people can then give it a more fair
evaluation...:) Or at the very least...provide a separate update or
service pack for the testdrive version so again...people can give it a fair
shake...:)

I almost gave up on it..version 11.0.0 that is....email is very important to
me, my wife and the rest of my family....:) And I, we liked using
outlook...been using it for at least 7 years now....:) So I GAMBLED...NOT a
responsible thing to do with MY MONEY...but hey....it WORKED......so why not
provide a trial version of your software that WORKS...:)

Hey...the testdrive versions of word, excel and powerpoint probably
worked....but again...who can I tell if my email solution
(entourage/outlook) does NOT work....:(

Anyway...I'm very happy with office 2004 11.2.0 for the MAC......nice to
know that I have something somewhat familiar to use on my very first APPLE
computer.....:)

Thanks for your help...:)

Fixed my problem...testdrive version of software is running old version
11.0.0...which does not work very well with exchange server...go
figure....and it is NOT updatable with current service packs available.

I purchased the office 2004 for mac software (11.0.0) ...then updated it to
version (11.2.0) using service pack 2....works like a charm....very nice.:)

The current trial version of this software does NOT connect to exchange very
well at all.:(.....but..version 11.2.0 works VERY well...:)
