Exchange server 5.5 and Entourage

My IT Dept are less than enthused by my sole Mac on the system and
have not been very helpful ("if you want it fixed then you wil have to
pay"!). They have Exchange Server 5.5, IMAP and LDAV activiated. I
have read the support pages which are good if you have Ex 2000 but if
you have an archaic It Dept with only 5.5 then it is a little more
difficult.

Do I need anything else set up if I only want to recieve email ie.
free/busy etc....? Is the SMTP likely to be the same server? I have
read that a "pathway" may have to be part of the server name when
completing the set up program for Entourage - is this the case?

any other hints for Exchange 5.5 sufferers?

You can't retrieve free/busy data from Exchange Server 5.5. You might be
able to access the global address list and send/receive e-mail if the server
is set up properly. However, you cannot set up your account under the
Exchange tab, as it will not work. If you've already tried setting up
accounts there, delete them. You need to set up a regular IMAP and
Directory Service account.

Here are instructions for setting up mail retrieval from Exchange Server
5.5:
<http://www.microsoft.com/mac/support.aspx?pid=exchange#erage>

To set up a directory service account, go to Tools -> Accounts, click the
"Directory Service" tab, and then click "New". Enter your proper LDAP
server, but if it doesn't work you might need to turn on the "My server
requires me to log on" option. If you want to turn it on, use this format
for Account ID:
domain\username
