Exchange Server and IMAP in the same profile

Could you help me on the following?
I use MS Outlook on my laptop in the office to send/receive emails via an Exchange Server with a local IP address.
When I am at home I am not able to access directly the Exchange Server. I'm able however to send/receive emails via Secured Internet using an IMAP account that I have configured on the same profile with the one that I am using in the office (i.e. I have only one profile where I have configured both the Exchange Server and the IMAP account). So what I do when I'm at home is that I receive all my emails on IMAP and then I copy them to my local PSTs (this works fine!). When I want to send an email I explicitly select that it is sent over IMAP (this also works fine!). The problem is when I want to delete a message: in this case Outlook says that it cannot delete the message because it is in Offline mode. This is indeed true as far as the Exchange Server is concerned. But Outlook does not realize that there is another connection (via IMAP) that is active and can be used in order to expunge the message. Any idea how to overcome this?
Thank you,
Giannis

PS. If I remove the Exchange Server from the profile and I keep only the IMAP account, deleting a message works fine. But this is not what I want because I want to be able to see my PSTs as when I am working in the office.
