Need help setting up Entourage 2004 (Mac OS 10.3.8) with exchange
server. Have all necessary info. from network admin. - user name,
exchange server name, domain, pw, etc. Shows as connected, but no mail
is coming into my inbox and am also getting an http error. Any help is
appreciated!

This is the same problem I am having as well. Part of my problem is I'm a
first time Mac user and don't understand all the language yet. My IT person
asked if the Macs have and ipconfig feature so she could make sure I'm
connected to the VPN. No idea, I assume they have something similar?

If you're on a ethernet network, there's no need to VPN...I think.
Your IP config panels are in the following place: system
preferences/network. Once their, click "configure" and you can enter
TCP/IP info., proxy servers, etc.

For a VPN connection, go here:
applications/internet connect

Let me know if you get it working.

Unfortunately, I'm not on the ethernet. I remotely tunnel in through
the Cisco VPN (that was a challenge all in itself to get set up. A
story for another day). I can see and browse all the servers except
the exchange server. But, I have no problem seeiing and browsing the
exchange server when on my windows based machine. So I have the
correct access but the Mac does not see the server for whatever reason.
That is why IT wanted me to see if i could ping the exchange server.
Except I don't know how to ping from a Mac. In windows i just go to
run and away i go.

Yeah, the joys of the Cisco VPN client :-(

That might be because you're on a different DNS than the rest of the
people. What happens if you use the IP address of the server instead of
it's name when you're connecting through VPN ??

You can easily do it using the Network utility or the Terminal (eg: for
127.0.0.1, Launch the Terminal and type:
ping 127.0.0.1
)
