Exchange server move, IT ask for password

Apparently the IT Dept. is going to move the Exchange server to a new disk
or computer... so they have asked all users for their passwords. In other
copanies I've worked for they did all maintenance without EVER asking such a
question. What would be the reason they NEED our login passwords???
