Exchange Server Problem- Stops receiving emails in inbox

I am working on Exchange through Mailstreet.com. I work with Entourage
version 12.1.5. I have had a problem that intermittently entourage
will simply not download messages from the server. I can still send
messages. All of my messages still show up on web access so I know
this is not a server side problem.

The only solutions that have worked to fix the problem for a short
time is to set up a new identity and have the entire sync process
start again. This seems to only fix the problem for several days. I
have also tried repairing the database but this only seemed to sync
the exchange server and my computer. Shortly thereafter I sent myself
a test message and it did not show up in entourage but did appear on
web-access.

I have even had problems that my emails will show up in my entourage a
one point in the day, then when I shut my computer down and go home
from the office several days of emails in my "inbox" simply dissapear.
It seems that my other sub-folders seem to not have the same problem.

Any suggestions on fixing this problem once and for all?

thanks.

Try selecting the folder and Ctrl-clic it to force-purge the Excahnge
cache and redownload everything,

I can think of that you must have huge bunch of emails in your inbox or you
have multiple sub folders inside your
inbox.

Entourage sync process gives highest priority to the default folders. I
would suggest you to manage your mailbox. Archive old emails as suggested by
Diane here
http://blog.entourage.mvps.org/2008/12/options_for_end_of_year_archiving.html
or create a new folder inside your exchange account and move emails and sub
folders from
inbox to this folder.

Check this article http://support.microsoft.com/?id=905803. Microsoft
suggest to have maximum of 3500 - 5000 items in any particular folder and
this includes sub folders.

Hope this helps
