Executing a program from PowerPoint.

Hi everybody,

I'd like to know if it's posible to execute a program directly from
PowerPoint. I need to show an application executing and that would be
much more elegant than having to minimize PowerPoint and double click
on an icon on the desktop.

Thanks in advance,

S.

If you mean clicking on text and having that action launch a local
application, then yes:
Right Clicke the text | Action Settings .... and Run Program

Mitch I think he's trying to trap the application quit command and do some
code before it quits.

It's enough with Mitch suggestion!! I only have one problem. A Windows
warning message appears ("are you sure that you want to execute this
application..."). Is there any way to remove this and tell PowerPoint
that the application can be executed safely.

Great .. i was actually gonna ask that exact same question .. :)

BUT .. from a security perspective .. (since I AM a security MVP),
it is always wise and cautious to be extremely careful to keep your "shields
up" ...
e.g. hackers are known to surf any and ALL newsgroups, looking for loose
doorways into your cosy computer, based on hacks and modifications!

Be armed ... accept security rather than convenience :)

Can I add to Mitch's security warning? The following word of warning story
hit my ears recently and I wanted to share....

Person sent a presentation to their mom for sharing with nieces and nephews.
Presentation was of pictures and information on a trip recently taken,
including links to sites about the places visited. Said person DID NOT test
the links before sending.

Mom opens the presentation with young niece beside her. Gets to the first
link, clicks it, gets the warning, complains, and clicks to continue. Site
comes up. Monitor gets turned off. Why? Typo in the link - sent to a very
pornographic site instead of the tourist site.

The moral of hits story: If you are going to turn off the warning or tell
people to ignore it, be sure you have checked every link in your
presentation before presenting to an audience or distributing it to others.

My two cents only!

Hi everybody,
The program to disable hyperlink warnings does not work if I execute a
command directly instead of a .bat (for example, if I call javaw from
within PowerPoint)... Is there any way to avoid the warning in that
case?

Thanks in advance,

S.

Yes, but the problem is that I get the MSDOS window in that case... and
I don't want it.
